Experts give their assessment of the Hungarian takeover bid for Talgo and the possible effects of the Spanish refusal and opposition to this operation.
Juan Carlos Alfonso, partner in the public and regulatory area, comments on the refusal of the takeover bid in El Economista: "the refusal to carry out this operation could be considered as an aggressive action against a state-owned company in the European Union that could create a precedent for Spanish state-owned companies that want to acquire other companies in the EU, and to which reciprocal or similar treatment could be given, if the legislation of the country of destination of the investment allows it".
Our expert lawyer adds that such an operation could even be denounced before the European Commission.
